Sugar Beach was great!”
Boise, Idaho
We just spent ten days at Sugar Beach Condos and had a great experience. Our condo was clean and quiet with an exceptional view. All of the staff at the facility (thank you Francis and Eliza) were extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend Sugar Beach and we would stay there again. Having the beach out our door was great. Each day the sea grass was cleaned from the beach. Snorkeling from the condo was good. Rays, lobster, barracuda, etc. Although we ate at many great restaurants (not to include the highly overrated Kendricks) during our stay, Breezes right next door to the condos was not only convenient but excellent! We also couldn't get over how courteous all of the driver's were on the island (take note Boise drivers) Thanks again for an excellent vacation!

"Sugar Beach is An EXCELLENT Choice"
NYS
It's not often that a vacation rental completely lives up to its listing, but our rental at Sugar Beach was the delightful exception to that rule.
We stayed here from 01/29/08 through 02/06/08, and could not have been happier with our decision. Sugar Beach is in a prime location on St Croix, less than 10 minutes west of Christiansted, and the property is just perfect. Beachfront that is RIGHT OUTSIDE your master bedroom, a protected swimming beach, superb views toward town & the other islands, grocery/gas within a mile, Breezez restaurant right next door, and quiet enjoyment all the time.
If you have never gone to the USVI, you could not pick a better place to stay. If you are returning, don't miss this property on St Croix. Every photo was accurate; every description was spot on; everything was as we'd hoped it would be.
We'll be back; that's the best compliment we could offer.

"Much nicer than shown on website!"
Nashville
In October of 2006, my husband, 16 year old son and I stayed at Sugar Beach for one week. Francis was wonderful at answering my many questions before the trip and during. Our condo was very roomy and the view from the third floor balcony was wonderful every morning to have coffee on and sit with the gecos who would come to visit! We snorkled nearly every day just out front and enjoyed seeing many colorful fish. Sea grass was unavoidable near the beach, but once you cleared it- nothing but blue waters and fish! Buck Island was great and we spent time snorkeling in Cane Bay. Beer drinking pigs a must to see! ... Even my 16 year old had a wonderful time as he could keep in touch back home through Sugar Beach's club house with internet and computer! A jeep is a must in order to go sight seeing and the pool was wonderful! Even used the barbeque to cook up a mahi mahi my son caught on a fishing trip. Nothing better than fresh! We will go back to this location!

I am torn between letting the world know how wonderful Sugar Beach Condos are and trying to keep the masses from taking over this great destination. My husband and I have been yearly regular guest there for the last 5 years and would not dream of staying anywhere else on St. Croix. Easily accesible to great restauraunts (Breezzes, right next door) and to the grocery store, and downtown. (rent a car from Judi of Croix!) The management is friendly, the security, first rate and the location, with the awsome view and steps from the beach is priceless. We have made many friends among the owners and regulars and look forward to our get-togethers every year. Tom and Dale Avery, Granbury, Texas

"Best Vacation Ever!”
Western MA
We stayed in room a two bedroom/ 2 bath condo on the first floor. It totally exceeded our expectations! The pictures on the website do not do it justice. The condo was huge, with a full kitchen that had everything we needed. (Dishwasher, full fridge, stove, toaster, microwave, even a blender!) The washer/dryer was very convienent also. Since we were on the first floor, the beach was right outside the door. Even though there is seaweed on this beach, if you're actually swimming and not walking around in it you aren't touching it anyway so it's no big deal. A small price to pay for staying in paradise. The second day we were there, we made friends with the man who rakes the beach every morning, Benjamin. He was super friendly, and we looked forward to talking to him every morning. He even cut down coconuts for us to try! I can't say enough about how much we all loved this condo.
I would recommend renting a car, taxi's are expensive and it's just easier to have your own vehicle. It took a day to get used to driving on the left, but after that it was no problem. Everywhere on the island is within 20 min driving distance.
I recommend taking a tour of the rum factory, it costs $4 and you get as many free drinks as you want at the end. Bottles of Cruzan Rum cost $7, so it's cheaper to buy them and drink at home than to go to a bar. Buck Island is also another great thing to do, even if you've never snorkled before. It was $60 for a half day, and it was an amazing experience. Make sure to bring an underwater camera!
One thing that we did not like was the buffet on Tues. night at the Island on the Cay. It cost $27 for food that was not very good. The drinks were also expensive compared to the rest of the places we went. Better off staying on the boardwalk. All in all, the people that live on the island are friendly and helpful. Make sure to greet them with a good morning, good afternoon, etc. The nicer you are to them the nicer they are to you.
If you're looking for somewhere not too expensive to eat without driving, Smugglers Cove is about a 2 min walk down the beach, and the bartenders were always friendly. Breezes was a 2 minute walk the other way, and the food was great, but more pricey.
Since we were there at the end of Aug, it was slow season, so the condo was much cheaper, and we had the whole beach almost to ourselves. I don't like the whole 'tourist' thing, so this was a great time of year to avoid it.
I will definately be back to sugar beach!!

My Husband and I stayed at Sugar Beach (#309) from June 30-July , 2007 and had a wonderful time!! We originally booked a one-bedroom deluxe, but were upgraded to a two bedroom. Needless to say, we didn't use the second bedroom, but it made a nice, large condo experience! ...
We checked into Sugar Beach with no problem by a customer service oriented staff. Can't say enough about the staff, just great! The condo was clean, spacious and awesome view!! In fact, each condo has an awesome view. We were on the 3rd floor. One thing to keep in mind, only the ground floor condos have direct access to the beach from the condo. Floors 2 and 3 each have to walk around the complex to the sides to enter through a push-button (code) locked gates. The security here was top-notch...with dogs included! ...
We enjoyed our stay at Sugar Beach and are glad we chose this place!

We stayed at Sugar Beach from June 22-27, 2007 and were extremely pleased with our choice. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we would especially like to recognize the excellent customer service provided by both Frances and also a young woman named Elishah (pardon my spelling). We rented a 2 bedroom unit, a Master bedroom and another bedroom with 2 single beds which was an excellent choice for our 2 teenage boys. The units were equipped with everything we needed including a coffee maker, a blender (for drinks), utensils, cooking ware, a microwave, a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, a TV with cable hookup including HBO, air conditioning, and ceiling fans. The unit was very clean and well maintained. We stayed on the 3rd floor which gave us an excellent view of the ocean;all units are right on the beach with a patio facing the ocean. Also, there is a large outside swimming pool... This place is great!

I have just come back from St Croix and i have to say that i had a brilliant holiday and that was mostly down to Sugar Beach
...the apartment was lovely home from home it had everything from dvd, washing maching/dryer, microwave, toaster so much more and it was such a beautifully decorated apartment... I didnt manage to meet the lovely (Manager) Steve (as everyone calls him) but the lady at reception was very helpful..we had a problem (non urgent) with our villa and she arranged someone to come out the next morning to fix it..plus with the secruity guards ( and their BIG dog) there it felt very safe...
We loved the beach...(i dont know maybe its because im from the uk and our beaches are yurk) every morning there were guys out racking the "sea grass"..the sand is soft...the water was nice...my boyfriend who is a native of St Croix insisted on showing us so called better beaches in the west of St Croix but we were very happy where we were...
there are resturants nearby and the local supermarket, bank, kfc, subway and macdonalds are only about 10 mins walk if that and its so easy to get a taxi infact one gave us his card so we could call upon him anytime...
Yeap i loved Sugar Beach (209) and i had such a wonderful time in St Croix that i'll be back at the end of October 07...and maybe i might just stay!..

Hi Francis, I just wanted to thank you for all the help you gave us in getting our condo at Sugar Beach. IT WAS WONDERFUL! We had the best vacation and truly loved the condo (we stayed at 303). Our condo was clean, well laid out for privacy, and had a wonderful view of the beach from the balcony. We couldn't have asked for a better condo or accommodations. I've been so sad to be back in Greensboro, NC and not at Sugar Beach. If you ever need someone to give a reference regarding your condo's please remember me. I'll be happy to tell anyone about the wonderful time we had at Sugar Beach. Take care, and again...thank you for all your help.

We returned to St. Croix for vacation after a 5 year hiatus and decided to stay at Sugar Beach this time. The location was great for treks to Christiansted and to Cane Bay. For days when we didn't travel, the beach in front of the units was perfect and the pool was excellent. Two good restaurant/pubs (Breezez and Smuggler's Cove) were a 5-minute walk along the beach. I never had any security concerns - the condo property is well off the main road and a security officer is on staff when the office is closed.
We rented a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit and found it roomy and fairly well-maintained. The patio was very nice - it offered a great place for early morning reading with breezes blowing off the Caribbean Sea... Sugar Beach was a great value. We'd recommend and will check out Sugar Beach when we return to St. Croix again

We stayed at Sugar Beach during the first week of December, 2006. All I can say is lots of times if you see a place online, the photos tend to make the place look better than it really is.
This was emphatically NOT the case with Sugar Beach! If anything, the photos did not do justice to this beautiful place. We stayed in unit 306, the decor was lovely, the kitchen stocked with everything you could possibly want, but our favorite place was the balcony where we could sit and watch the moon rise over the water, or the local geckos basking in the sun. And on our last night there we got to see the boat parade and fireworks over Christiansted.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and if you didn't feel like going to the beach you could take a dip in the gorgeous free-form pool.
How much did we like it? We're already booked for the first week in December of this year!
March 20, 2007
We (a group of five friends) stayed at Sugar Beach (unit 308) from March 10-17th, 2007. Our unit was wonderfully furnished, very clean, and had an amazing view of the beach and Caribbean Sea below. We utilized the excellent cooking facilites in the unit as well as the grills around the pool. The location was excellent with Christiansted only a short 5 minute drive, two pool-side restaurants on either side of the property and an medium-sized food market a 3 minute drive away. The beach was kept clean with daily removal of seaweed and yes, there is sea-grass in the water, but it isn't slimy. There were excellent opportunities for snorkeling off the beach (including many types of butterfly and angelfish, as well as a few sting rays!). I highly recommend this property for families and groups that want a place to relax and escape on St. Croix -- great location, awesome views, and modest prices!
And here's one for this section.
And we thankfully acknowledge our guests for the nice comments they leave for us...

"My sister and I just returned from spending 10 nights
at Sugar Beach. This was our 3rd visit to Saint Croix, and it just
doesn't get any better than Sugar Beach.
The manager,
Steve, was absolutely fantastic! He lives on-site and is able to
stay on top of every single detail. The staff was very friendly
and helped us make arrangements for day trips, taxis, and everything
else we needed. I must have asked a million questions, and they
always smiled and seemed to truly care about my vacation.
There is
a nice clubhouse on-site with free internet, books, music, etc.
What a bonus! But, I must admit, the breath-taking view from our
30 ft. long balcony was what hooked me for life. Nonetheless, without
the welcoming spirit of Sugar Beach staff, it wouldn't have been
nearly so special ..."

"What an incredible vacation! I now know
why Sugar Beach is one of the highest rated resorts on St Croix.
The staff is friendly and eager to please.
Reasonably
priced, and centrally located, one could walk outside the condo
to a pristine, soft white sandy beach with the reef protected shoreline
about one hundred feet from the door. There is excellent snorkeling
right off shore, with an abundance of beautiful, colorful sea life,
and even a five-foot stingray that calls the area home.
When you
reach your limit of sun and fun on the beach, Christianstead is
a twenty-minute walk, or five minutes by car. And when the time
is right, there is an abundance of water sport, and land sport activities
nearby: hiking, four wheeling, biking, horse back riding, kayaking,
sailing, diving, excursions, and the list goes on.
We'll be
back, again and again, and recommend anyone visiting St Croix consider
Sugar Beach Resort as your home away from home."

"This
was our first visit and we are going back next year. The grounds
are neat and well maintained. The pool is large, with wet bars and
built alongside a picturesque historic sugar mill.
The beach
is large and cleaned every morning. Accomodations are well appointed
with fantastic views of the Caribbean...especially sunrises. The
staff is friendly, accessible and helpful...from the maintenance
staff to the manager, Steve.
Restaurants
are within walking distance; groceries 5 minutes away and Christiansted
is 10 minutes away with shops, restaurants and water views. Can't
ask for more." - Albany, NY

"The Sugar Beach Condominiums on St Croix in the US Virgin
Islands provide everything you would ever desire in a condominium
and more! Full kitchen, W/D, living room, dining room, and anywhere
from a studio to four bedrooms.
Cool breezes
and ocean view in every unit. We haven't turned on the AC once and
we have been here over a month now. Snorkeling off the beach is
excellent and the free-form pool is really wonderful.
Restaurants
and shops are nearby and the scuba diving is reasonable since there
are several places to dive off the beach. We'll be back next year!"

"Just returned from 3 weeks stay at wonderful Sugar Beach Condos
on St Croix and have enjoyed a great vacation.
The condos
are right on the water in the sugar white sand. 20 steps forward
and you are in crystal clear water excellent for swimming and snorkeling.
If you prefer freshwater, the pool is great and placed beautifully
next to a ruin of an old sugarmill.
Have a game
of tennis ! There are two courts with lights so you can play at
night after the sun is down.
There are 2 restaurants within walking distance on the beach. Good
food, great drinks and friendly service. You have a well equipped
food market within 5 minutes drive if you want to cook at home.
Lovely Christiansted is only 10 minutes away when you want to go
out shopping or enjoy a great meal in a restaurant.
The units
in Sugar Beach are well equipped and with weekly cleaning and fresh
bedding . The Condo area and beach is well maintained, nice chairs
and always watched by security guards just in case. You have free
use of their guest room where you can check your emails or surf
the net or even borrow a book to read on the beach. There are complimentary
BBQs for home cooking.
The management is very friendly, helpful and efficient.
I have only good things to say and we are going back again next
year!" - Montreal, Canada

"Sugar Beach Condo resort was a great bargain at $98 a dollars
a night. It was less than 5 minutes from the main town of Christiansted,
where everything is happening.
The place
itself had all the amenitites including a fully stocked kitchen,
a cooler and ice packs to take to the beach, a full sized refrigerator,
a nice living room, entertainment center and more. The pool was
very nice and the beach was just outside our patio door.
We did some
of the best snorkeling on the island at our place, as well. We saw
stingray, lobster, flounder and plenty of colorful fish.
There are
no restaurants at the resort but as I mentioned Smuggler's Cove
it to the left and Breezes is to the right. Both are within walking
distance."

"I would like to share my experience at Sugar Beach Condos
with the rest of the "cyber-world" since it was absolutely
a dream come true. I spent 2 x 2 weeks (August and December 2004)
at Sugar Beach (always in unit #306), which I love.
The location
is a dream (and I live on the Beach in San Diego, CA), so we have
decided to pack up and move to St. Croix. Honestly.
Steve and
his staff were just absolutely a pleasure to deal with and so very
professional. My total experience was so positive that I wish that
I would have discovered this island sooner.
The Cruzans
are polite and very friendly people and I enjoyed spending time
in some local places, away from the three-to-five-star hotels."
